A Good Time to Choose – Casting the Spell

by ACL Bachara

So many of us are ready to move beyond the toxic and abusive systems of old and grow our world into a better place for our children’s children. This requires an ethic of love. And love is incompatible with control, said bell hooks.

If there is a way to level up the timeline, I invoke it. Must toxic systems be fully exposed and dismantled so that renewal and rebuilding can begin?

“Now is a good time to choose what you believe.

Are we here to tend the webs of connection, to care for one another and our beautiful earth, as the core of not only Indigenous but every major religion would tell us?

Or are we here to maximize our material gain and destroy all who might somehow get in our way? Consider what world we would live in if that second view prevails. Envision the world we want.

Decide where you will stand,” stated Starhawk in her Substack post linked below.

Exploding Star – Acrylic on Paper by ACL Bachara

May we summon an intentional, international, intergenerational commission of mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and aunties to guide our world into a more kind and loving, more centered and healthful future.

Rather than accepting, inhabiting, and passing on a legacy of trauma and abuse, war, and destruction, we have the resources and knowledge to choose dialogue and education to resolve conflict and attend the needs of humanity. Endless traumatization only preserves greed, abuse, and suffering. This is a difficult and self-perpetuating cycle.

When do we decide that a legacy of fear is no longer acceptable and we will not allow or participate in the upholding of an endless war machine and the never ending destruction of the only place we have to call home?

May we find that the more intelligent path is to use our vast technology to elevate the life quality for everyone. May we break from the illusion that Extractionist values – the worldview that treats land, labor, life, everything as resources to be consumed for profit – are the only way. We must overcome this mass exploitation with the creation of sustainable and regenerative systems. We must prioritize the betterment and well-being of the family, community, and ecology, in authentic, accepting, and inclusive ways.

May we find justice for the whole, rather than raw extractionism and manipulation for the profit of the few.

May we finally find the meaning of enough.
